Impressionable-ism

 Your humble author, August 2011
from "Clothes and the Man" by Alan Flusser, 1985

Dammit, I knew that outfit looked familiar, like I'd seen it somewhere before. Because I had.
You know all that stuff you hear about menswear and timelessness and how little things change and how the good stuff never really goes away? It's true.

Sometimes it's good to be impressionable, as long as you listen to the right people.

A very late summer, drinks before dinner at the club kind of look. Maybe it's time to pen YOUR tome on dressing well!

Poseur! Sell-out!

(sound of tongue being removed from cheek)

Looking good as always, mio amico. Classic—and classy.

The odd thing about Flusser is that his own dress looks awful in almost every picture: neck roll, hunched, strain on his buttons, hair fluffed-up like a 1940s starlet...
To be honest I think he's better off behind the camera just dressing the man.

I hear a lot about Flusser, but I've seen his name on so much polyester at the thrifts...
